2019 Annual Unplugged Event Recap

by | Jul 2, 2019

What is Unplugged?

Unplugged is a member’s invite-only AgencySavvy event designed to help agency owners take some time away from their business to work on the business, not in it. Members from all around the globe fly in for the event as it allows them to literally unplug and disconnect from their devices and think about their business.. from the outside – with no distractions!

The opportunity for AgencySavvy members to expand their global network and form new friendships is just the icing on the cake.

Unplugged 2019 took place in San Diego on 28th February 2019 of February, and brought 10 AgencySavvy members together.

As an annual Mastermind event, Unplugged brings our members face-to-face to properly connect and reconnect with each other in the real world.

The event helps solidify the friendships forged in our Facebook group and creates a perfect opportunity to catch-up!

Why Our Members Attend Unplugged

Not only does Unplugged help build a stronger community with like-minded and growth-oriented agency owners, but it builds friendships and networking connections through trustworthy advice and practical group exercises.

Past attendees have come to the event to learn how to improve their agency using the 4 pillars of business: 1) Mindset, 2) Client Servicing, 3) Systems & Processes and 4) Technical aspects of marketing.

One of the main reasons agency owners choose to attend Unplugged is the opportunity to be surrounded by brilliant minds who are willing to help you brainstorm solutions that will actually move the needle.

Getting such insights, in turn, strengthen the 4 pillars of agency business and help agency owners like yourself gain better clarity and be more confident about the future. Some of the common takeaways (but not limited to) are:

  • Learning how other agency owners run their business, including the systems and strategies they use for success.
  • New and different avenues of agency and goal direction.
  • Problem-solving techniques and actionable solutions.
  • How to maximise goal and KPI attainment.

Why Our Members Love Unplugged

We thought Ian who attended our 2018 Unplugged event summed up the benefits and experience pretty well.

“Before attending, I wasn’t completely sold on the Mastermind concept and wondered if my money would have been better invested with some direct consulting.

Man was I ever wrong.

While the direct feedback on my own business from Mike and the other Agency owners was pure gold, being able to share in the challenges and successes of the other participants was platinum.

It wasn’t just the open look into the internal workings of other agencies but also the incredible feedback from each person based on their experience and perspective. Questions were asked and answers given that I might not have considered for myself for months or maybe even years. It was way more valuable to me than a simple one-to-one.”

– Ian Greant (what agency does he own?)

What Actually Happens at Unplugged?

Before the Unplugged event, all attending members are asked to create a short and succinct elevator pitch about their agency. They must bring this elevator pitch and one problem or challenge they are currently facing to the event to share with the group.

At the event and facilitated by Mike, the collective group of agency owners undertake a workshopping activity called “The Hot Seat”.

During the Hot Seat workshop individual problems and challenges are shared, then brainstormed by fellow members. After brainstorming, a discussion where all ideas and actionable solutions are put on the table.

This is great for 3 reasons:

  1. Individual problems or challenges can be solved by the group.
  2. Situations and solutions can be illuminated in different perspectives.
  3. You can learn how to prioritise and manage other problems, and actionable solutions before it can happen to your agency!

This years’ Unplugged event has helped one of our attendees, Sara create a 12-month goal, set her milestones based on a priority level and devise an achievable plan to help her short and long-term agency business goals.

Sara still refers to her learning notes from this years event and has already set-up and initiated her plan as devised with Mike & the team.

What You Can Take Away from Unplugged

We know Mastermind events are great for networking and problem solving, but there really is nothing like putting new ideas and strategies into action.

Unplugged delivers the motivation to continue to build your track to success. It provides a support network through our Facebook group, regrouping opportunities and ongoing encouragement from fellow members.

You’ll also walk away with a poster full of (prioritised) ideas that will help keep your goals at the forefront of your mind. Including strategies to conquer any fears of the unknown and methods to help you work through stressful times.

The importance of having them prioritised is to reduce the feeling of overwhelm and avoid shiny object syndrome.

  • Your own personalised notes and ideas of how to improve the structure and efficiency of your agency.
  • A list of different problems and challenges your agency could face, and how to solve them.
  • Lots of actionable solutions and strategies to enhance your digital marketing endeavours.
  • New ideas for your agency as prioritised by entrepreneurial and like-minded peers.
  • New friends, memories and networking connections.

If you’re looking to take your digital marketing agency to the next level and be able to create the lifestyle you’ve been dreaming of, AgencySavvy has got your back.

Become an AgencySavvy member today to get connected to like-minded agency owners who understand what you’re going through, and get invited to our member-only 2020 Unplugged event.
